“Sore” or “Hand” in Psalm 77:2?

"In the day of my trouble I sought the Lord: my sore ran in the night, and ceased not: my soul refused to be comforted." (Psalm 77:2)

The generic meaning of “יד (yâd)” is “hand,” but it could mean many different things depending on context. The margin in the KJV notes the alternative definition, “hand,” so the translators knew the generic definition. They chose the contextual definition for the main text.
