“Bishopric” or “Office” in Acts 1:20?

“επισκοπην (episkopen)” refers to the office of an episcopate. “Episkopos” in Greek became “episcopus” in Latin, which became “bisceop” in Old English, which then became “bishop.” Thus, “bishopric” is correct and faithful to the Greek. The problem is not that the KJV uses an Anglican word, but that non-Anglicans have stopped using a biblical word in fear of the unbiblical semantic baggage that became attached to the word. But just as the word “God” should not be abandoned simply because of any unbiblical baggage attached to the word, biblical words such as “bishop” need not be abandoned as well.
